Viability’s Adult Family Care (AFC), for elderly individuals and people with disabilities, provides companionship, a safe environment, a private room and daily care. The AFC program also offers in-home assistance, empowerment, and a person-centered approach to achieve better self-esteem and a higher quality of life. Adult Family Care is a supportive program dedicated to an individuals’ needs, goals and safety. AFC services may also include:
> shopping
> volunteering
> working
> support with behavioral health needs
> much more
Those caring for individuals in Adult Family Care include family members or patrons in the community. Caregivers receive ongoing education, a tax-exempt stipend, ongoing support from Viability's staff and resources. To qualify for Adult Family Care, participants:
> Must be at least 16 years old and need the daily support of a caregiver due to physical or mental disabilities
> Must be approved by a physician
> Must have MassHealth insurance
