Baystate Health’s Moms Do Care, The EMPOWER (Engaging Mothers for Positive Outcomes with Early Referrals) Program, is a comprehensive, community-based screening and referral program serving pregnant women with substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use or are on medication-assisted treatment. The EMPOWER Program offers personalized, trauma-informed support through pregnancy and birth and helps connect to resources that gains confidence in recovery. The program includes meeting with a nurse early in pregnancy to discuss birth plans, learn how to care for a newborn at risk for withdrawal, and find out what to expect from the hospital stay.
The EMPOWER program is slightly different depending on where the delivery of the baby is planned:
The EMPOWER program
