The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free Federal and State Tax Return Preparation for low- to moderate-income individuals and families in Berkshire County. Qualified state of Massachusetts residents are eligible for this free tax preparation service, conducted by IRS certified volunteer tax preparers, and offered this year through a drop off service, or through Virtual VITA.
Due to COVID-19, we will not be scheduling in person tax appointments. Eligibility: VITA Free Tax Preparation eligibility requirements include: Must reside in Massachusetts, annual individual/ family income cannot exceed $54,000, those who are self-employed or have rental income are not eligible and those who earned income or have received unemployment from out-of-state are not eligible for assistance.
