VITA Free Income Tax Assistance Program

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free Federal and State Tax Return Preparation for low- to moderate-income individuals and families in Berkshire County. Qualified state of Massachusetts residents are eligible for this free tax preparation service, conducted by IRS certified volunteer tax preparers, and offered this year through a drop off service, or through Virtual VITA.
Due to COVID-19, we will not be scheduling in person tax appointments. If you would like to participate in our VITA Tax drop off service, or through Virtual VITA, please call our offices using the following numbers: For Pittsfield / South County please call BCAC’S VITA line at 413-418-3685 and leave a message, someone will return your call. For North County, please call 413-663-3014.
Eligibilty for the BCAC Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program includes:- Must reside in Massachusetts
- Annual individual/family income cannot exceed $54,000
- Those who are self-employed or have rental income are not eligible
- Those who earned income or have received unemployment from out-of-state are not eligible for assistance
