Free tax preparation is provided through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, for low- to moderate-income residents of Massachusetts. Certified volunteers help qualified individuals prepare basic tax returns.
Valley Opportunity Council (VOC) offers free electronic filing (e-file). Those who take advantage of the e-file program will receive their refunds in half the time compared to returns filed on paper – and even faster if they elect to have their refunds deposited directly into their bank accounts.

Eligibility: VITA Free Tax Preparation eligibility requirements include: Must reside in Massachusetts, annual individual/ family income cannot exceed $54,000, those who are self-employed or have rental income are not eligible and those who earned income or have received unemployment from out-of-state are not eligible for assistance.
