The MassHire Franklin Hampshire Career Center (MHFHCC) provides employment and training opportunities for In-School and Out-of-School youth and young adults, ages 14-24, in collaboration with our community partners in the Franklin, Hampshire and North Quabbin Regions.
> The Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) - a federally funded Youth Positive Program that provides long-term assistance to young people both in-school and out-of-school ages 14-24 in educational development, career exploration, gaining work experience, and achieving successful employment. WIOA Youth Services include:
> YouthWorks - a state funded job readiness and employment program for youth. The YouthWorks Program serves youth ages 14-21 and the year-round program serves those 17-21 years old. Youth participate in Job Readiness Workshops to enhance their employability and are then placed in paid internships at worksites in the Franklin, Hampshire and North Quabbin regions including Ware.
> School-to-Career Connecting Activities - services for high school students in the Franklin, Hampshire and North Quabbin areas who wish to achieve more learning hours by extending the classroom to the workplace. The School-to Career Program offers internships, job shadows, professional skills development, and job fair attendance as part of its service.
> Job Corps - a no-cost education and vocational training program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps low income young people ages 16-24 improve the quality of their lives by empowering them to get great jobs and become independent. There are several Job Corps training sites in Massachusetts and New England.
