Northampton Neighbors (NN) provides volunteer services and programs to empower seniors to live independent, engaged lives at home. Membership is free, and all members are welcome at social events and can access our list of member recommended service providers, for professional services like plumbers and lawyers. Members who are 55+ and reside in Northampton, Florence and Leeds can receive volunteer services.
Volunteers, of any age from throughout the region, are trained and vetted. Our computer system allows for flexibility in the type and frequency of service. Many members who receive services often choose to offer them, too. To foster engagement and reduce isolation, Interest Groups, including Hiking, Gardening and Political Discussion are ongoing and growing.
Our monthly Mix’N’Mingle and Coffee Klatch are opportunities to get together, too. NN also reaches out via Hello Neighbor, a periodic phone check in. Neighborhood Circles introduce members of all ages to each other. It is a NN innovation to foster the connection between people who live nearby, or even in the same building, but often have not met. There are opportunities to serve on committees to plan events, speakers, neighborhood gatherings, strategic partnerships, outreach and others.
The Cooley Dickinson VNA and Hospice provide office and meeting space in their offices in the Northampton Industrial Park. Please call (413) 341-0160 to arrange an appointment. Drop-in hours are also available at the Northampton Senior Center on the first Monday of the month from 1:00-5:00pm, please register at (413) 587-1228.
We welcome people of any age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, class, ability, language, or cultural background.
