Provides eligible Franklin County, MA residents financial counseling and a zero-interest loan, up to $500, to meet unexpected expenses paired with financial counseling. The Community Loan Program helps to provide families with the tools and support to reach financial stability while meeting an unexpected financial need. We will save participants costs normally paid on cash advance and payday loans by offering the loan, free from credit checks, service fees and interest charges. Participants will receive individualized financial education, credit repair and budgeting support during required meetings throughout the repayment period. Participants will conclude the program with a greater sense of financial well-being and household stability.
The goal of the Money Matters Program is to help individuals manage money as well as access and use financial services that work for them, for year-round financial success. The three initiatives of the program include the Free Tax Assistance Program, the Community Loan Program and Financial Counseling services. Participants may join in one or all initiatives depending on their individual needs and eligibility.
