Highland Valley Elder Services Protective Services investigates allegations of abuse or neglect of any kind, to keep elders safe from harm. Elder abuse includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect by a caregiver, self-neglect and financial exploitation. The Personal Emergency Response Service provides a 24-hour monitored medical communications alert system. This monitoring system can call for help from anywhere in the home. Nursing Home and Ombudsmen Services provide ombudsmen who visit care facilities to talk to and support residents, and ensure proper care. Ombudsmen provide a way for residents and their families to voice their concerns relating to personal care, safety, feelings of loneliness and boredom, financial matters, or a facility’s policies or practices.
